Public Education



Public Education Programs

Public education plays a critical role in enhancing public safety and wellbeing. For this reason, we offer several structured classes to provide the residents and occupants of the fire district with a sound understanding of fire safety concepts and concerns. These programs, whether formal or informal, are offered throughout the year. These programs include:

Fire Extinguisher Demonstrations
A hands-on course designed to demonstrates how to properly and effectively use a portable fire extinguisher. This course also provides attendees with information relating to Class A, Class B, Class C, and Class D fires.

Exit Drills in the Home (E.D.I.T.H.)
We provide education for the entire family on the proper techniques for evacuating a burning structure, including having two exits from each bedroom, staying low and crawling, and establishing a meeting place outside.

Floor Warden Presentations
We provide a complete presentation on high-rise fire safety behavior and the evacuation of the building during a fire or other emergency.

House of Fire Challenge
This public education program allows children to challenge their ability in putting out a pretend fire using an actual fire hose.

Make the Right Call — 911 Education
This program is designed to teach fire safety behavior to pre-school through second grade students by using the letters of the alphabet.

Equipment Demonstrations
Attendees receive a review of fire suppression apparatus and emergency medical units, including activities to teach fire safety behaviors.

Hotel Employee Operations and Safety
This is a program for hotel managers and employees on fire safety behavior and correct evacuation procedures.

ABC's of Fire Safety
We teach fire safety behavior to pre-school through second grade students by using the letters of the alphabet.
