OAKBROOK TERRACE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT's Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for many aspects of public safety and wellbeing, including, but not limited to, code enforcement, life safety, inspections, fire systems, and life safety plan reviews. Additionally, fire prevention, life safety, and public education, including off-site programs, classes, tours, and events are also administered by the Fire Prevention Bureau.

The Fire Prevention Bureau takes a proactive approach to life safety by reviewing all commercial building permit requests for conformance with the following Codes and Ordinances:
• International Fire Code — 2015 Edition with Amendments
• The Oakbrook Terrace Fire Prevention Ordinance
• Life Safety Application
• General Plan Information
